African-American history has played an integral role in the shaping of politics, economics, and culture in the United States. Growing up, how did you learn about the accomplishments and struggles of African Americans? Were you in a classroom? Reading a book? Talking with relatives or friends? How has your understanding or knowledge of African-American history changed and/or developed over time? What do you think is the most effective way to pass along this rich and growing history to future generations?

As an African American woman, I see so much working in a token booth at High Street in NYC. As much as I hate my job I am grateful for it. People are mean, rude and hate clerks. They spit and bang on the window and curse us for no reason. I was a homeowner who was attacked by the Bank of America predator and left my home and everything in it. I was married and divorced, my son is in prison my daughter blames me for all her problems. I stated all that because I’ve made sacrifices to work and live to help make my children and family happy but in the end I am left alone and lonely and the people that I loved so much hates me.I want to make a difference in this world make my life count as a positive strong woman who have weathered the storm and still standing strong.
