African-American history has played an integral role in the shaping of politics, economics, and culture in the United States. Growing up, how did you learn about the accomplishments and struggles of African Americans? Were you in a classroom? Reading a book? Talking with relatives or friends? How has your understanding or knowledge of African-American history changed and/or developed over time? What do you think is the most effective way to pass along this rich and growing history to future generations?

I’m glad that we have a half-black person in office. I say this, because, and I ask this question! Isn’t Obama Barack, half black and half white? But, I keep hearing the phrase: “First black President.” Since things aren’t going the way white society wants it to go, they are referring to him, President Obama Barack, as if he is all black! It upset me, because, if he was making all the right moves, would they, white society, be taking the white credit, and saying, “It’s the white in him.” The Bushes, father and son, for 12 years, put nation in a major downfall of debt! I take my hat off to Obama, for running and winning 2 terms as President of United States. But, was it really worth it? All you hear is, “It’s all his fault.” Slavery, prejudice, and everything else, that existed many years ago. But, they want to celebrate JFK 50th years of being slain. I’m 54 years old, and I got caught up in dope scene, but, I lifted myself up, and got myself together. I’ve been on the same job for the last 17 years. Brought me a house, but got screwed by Green Tree, paid them over $6,800 to do a loan modification. Just like many other blacks who lost their home. Anyway, my story is, tell the truth about Obama, he’s a mutt!
