  3. Gerty Theresa Cori, the first woman in America to win a Nobel Prize in science;
  4. Amelia Earhart, the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic;
  5. Jovita Idar, a Mexican American activist and journalist;
  6. Estée Lauder, founder of the cosmetics company that bears her name;
  7. Rosa Parks, who inspired the civil rights movement by refusing to give up her bus seat to a white person;
  8. Sacagawea, who accompanied Lewis and Clark in exploring the Louisiana Territory;
  9. Deborah Sampson, a solider who dressed as a man so she could fight in the Continental Army;
  10. Anna May Wong, the first Asian American movie star.
