Tapestry (1971) is Carole King’s multiple Grammy Award-winning solo album — the first to propel King into the public eye, though for a decade she had made a career writing hit music for other major music acts. Backing vocals for Tapestry were provided by recording artists James Taylor (who had released Sweet Baby James in 1970) and Joni Mitchell (who won her first Grammy for Clouds in 1969).
