Less than a year after The Jimi Hendrix Experience had their American debut at the Monterey Pop Festival in California, they were the headliners at the 1968 Miami Pop Festival. The day of their performance, they missed their connections to the festival by car, so Miami Pop Festival promoter Michael Lang told them to find a helicopter. Drummer Mitch Mitchell captured the band’s flight over the city in a home movie. The performance was filmed and Hendrix’s sound engineer Eddie Kramer recorded the concert, making this archival footage an exciting new find.
