How Milton Greene photographed Marilyn Monroe…

Greene was one of many photographers in and out of Monroe’s life. But, they were closer than most. Monroe even lived with his family for a short time.

More than anything, Greene shot her in such a prolific way. The ‘Black Sitting’ is just one of their many sessions.

I mean, they must have cornered the black velvet market on seventh avenue.

(jazz music) And strobe lights.

Remember strobe lights.

There's something about black velvet, that is very sensuous and very rich.

Look at me, I'm a street kid, but here I am in black velvet.

Wow.

(jazz music) Hat, white skin, black fish net hose, and sex.

♪ While tearing off ♪ He was brilliant, Luke was brilliant in bringing out people's inner emotions.
