My mother, Alejandra Bautista Trejo, was a woman who surpassed expectations imposed by a patriarchal society. She left her small town in rural Mexico to work in the nation’s capital.
A dedicated educator, she passed this fervent passion on to her 7 children.
As a pastor’s wife, she spearheaded VBS and various community outreach programs.
As a Naturalized Citizen, she dutifylly cast her vote in local and national elections.
As a mother, she led by example and, after an arduous journey, now rests in peace.
Today, I respectfully submit her name as an #InspiringWomanPBS
