Vivian Robinson

Harrisburg, IL, United States

My Mom is Vivian Howell Robinson. She worked her way thru College. She became a social worker and helped abused and neglected children. Using her vacation she went to Asia and helped at the orphanages. Mom adopted 8 children. Started a group to share cultural skills for children from Asia. As we grew older she became president of Afscme local 1048. We went to rallies and protests with her. Every night at dinner we discussed social justice. The Mom became Vice Chair of the Democrat party in Saline county. We went with Mom to all the political events. I am proud of my Mom. She taught us so much about civil rights, bargaining and Union rights, women’s issues, political knowledge and much more. We learned to care about our community and our country. Mom is a real activist.
