The Annual March for the Living
Law enforcement officials from New Jersey, led by Paul Goldenberg from the Rutgers University Miller Center for Community Protection and Resilience, went to Poland for the annual March for the Living from Auschwitz to Birkenau, which remembers the millions of victims of the Holocaust. They were part of the first international delegation of law enforcement to take part in the memorial walk.
It’s a personal issue for Goldenberg, who formerly served as first state chief of the Bias Crime and Community Relations office in the state attorney general’s office. He said he hopes the lessons of the Holocaust and learning about officers who were on the wrong side of history can help law enforcement in New Jersey address antisemitism and other hate crimes.
