Schantelle Alonzo

Hello! I’m Schantelle Alonzo, a first-generation Filipina-American artist here at SVA, and the theme of this contest really spoke to me. Growing up in a diverse neighborhood and having a background in social justice/ethnographic theater, I made it my artistic mission to share and celebrate stories of underrepresented communities. I have familiarized myself with stories of those just trying to get by with the culture they love, and believe the way to combat hate is to celebrate and share even more of our stories louder with pride.
