Elie Wiesel: In Memoriam

SHARE

GREAT PERFORMANCES mourns the passing of writer, professor, political activist, and Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel, whose tireless work to document the Holocaust as well as defend human rights and victims of oppression everywhere was recognized with a Nobel Peace Prize in 1986. In 2014, Wiesel was featured in GREAT PERFORMANCES’ “Rejoice with Itzhak Perlman and Cantor Yitzchak Meir Helfgot,” a musical exploration of Jewish liturgical and traditional works. In his interview with Itzhak Perlman, Wiesel discusses the central importance of music in Jewish life and his early study of the violin.
