In Memoriam: Carol Channing

SHARE

Great Performances mourns the passing of Broadway legend Carol Channing, whose memorable appearances on the series included Broadway Sings: The Music of Jule Styne in 1987 and “Jerry Herman’s Broadway at the Bowl” in 1994.  Channing was also interviewed for the six-part Broadway: The American Musical in 2004.  In this clip from The Music of Jule Styne, Channing performs her signature song “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, the 1949 Broadway musical that launched her career with her star-making performance as Lorelei Lee.
