Lewis Cullman

Great Performances mourns the passing Lewis Cullman, who for decades along with his late wife Dorothy was one of New York City’s leading patrons of arts and cultural institutions.  In addition to select Great Performances programs, the Cullmans’ support of arts and culture programs produced and presented on PBS by THIRTEEN included such multi-part series as “EGG the arts show,” “Robert Hughes’ The Pacific,” “Stage on Screen,” “Exiles in Hollywood,” “Broadway: The American Musical,” “Simon Schama’s The Power of Art,” and “Make ‘Em Laugh: The Funny Business of America.”  For decades, the Cullmans’ leadership role in arts philanthropy was of invaluable benefit to a national audience in bringing a diverse portfolio of outstanding cultural programming to public media.
