In Memoriam: Soprano Mirella Freni

GREAT PERFORMANCES mourns the passing of Mirella Freni, one of the preeminent  lyric sopranos of her generation who memorably starred in several GREAT PERFORMANCES opera presentations including “Madama Butterfly” (1976), “The Marriage of Figaro” (1977) “Faust” (1980), “Otello” (1987) and “Aida” (1987).  In this clip from Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro,” Freni sings Susanna’s Act IV aria “Deh vieni, non tardar.”
