GREAT PERFORMANCES mourns the passing of groundbreaking jazz saxophonist and composer Wayne Shorter, who passed away on March 2 in Los Angeles. A 12-time GRAMMY Award-winner including a GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement honoree in 2015, Shorter performed with his longtime colleague Herbie Hancock on GP’s first ‘GRAMMY Salute to Music Legends’ concert in 2016. In 2021, Shorter’s collaboration with esperanza spalding was featured on GP’s ‘San Francisco Reopening Night’ in November 2021.
