Rave Reviews for Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga: Cheek To Cheek LIVE!

Kathryn Shattuck of The New York Times: “Lady Gaga…and Mr. Bennett, his voice still strong at 88, take on the Great American Songbook and prove again that the classics can bridge many divides.”

Soraya Nadia McDonald of The Washington Post says of Bennett and Gaga: “It’s become practically cliché to note what an odd couple they make, so we’ll just remind you they’re actually both divine live performers and they’ve got great chemistry.”

Rand Duren in the Dallas Morning News: “Man, are we in for a treat…The show is filled to the brim with stunning performances so be ready for a night of musical bliss.”

Nationally syndicated Zap2it writer Jay Bobbin: “Bennett is finding that his and Gaga’s merging is translating into the musical meetings of the minds and generations he’d hoped for.” Bennett noted, “I love it when someone says, ‘My father loves Tony Bennett and I love Lady Gaga. And now, we can both listen together.’”

New York Daily News TV Critic David Hinckley gave the concert “4 stars”: “Gaga, with this special, boosts her own cred as a multi-faceted singer…The singing in general is solid. Bennett can still hold some remarkable notes, and more important, he understands the songs.”

Jonathan Takiff of Philadelphia Inquirer: “The music – really works. Their haunting give-and-take on ‘Nature Boy’ almost makes you forget classic readings by Nat King Cole and George Benson.” The praise continues as Takiff explains, “Listening to Bennett’s life- and love-reaffirming signature solo…with a killer final note that stretches on and on, you might conclude that this octagenarian is invincible,” and further notes, “but the even bigger surprise is Gaga’s warm and nuanced phrasing.”
