Sister James (Adriana Zabala) and Sister Aloysius (Christine Brewer) come head-to-head when Sister Aloysius expresses her initial concern over the behavior of Father Flynn in this new opera based on John Patrick Shanley’s acclaimed 2005 Broadway play, later adapted into an Academy Award-nominated 2008 film.
TRANSCRIPT

Do you believe him?

Of course.

No you don't!

You just want simplicity back.

I want no further part in this!

I'll bring him down with or without your help.

Oh how can you be so sure he's lying?

Experience.

You just don't like him.

You just don't it that he uses a ballpoint pen.

You just don't like it that he takes three lumps of sugar.

You just don't like it that he likes Frosty the Snowman, and you're letting it convince you of something terrible!

Well, I like Frosty the Snowman, and it would be nice if this school weren't run like a jail! and I think it's a good thing, a good thing, a good thing --I love to teach.

And I might inspire my students!

And if you judge that to mean I'm unfit to be a teacher, so be it!

Sit down.
