No recent Met Opera collection of highlights would be complete without soprano, Deborah Voigt. The host of Encores! Great Performances at the Met, Voigt is, of course, included as one of the highlights of past Metropolitan Opera productions. Known around the world for her excellence and mastery of the Wagnerian repertoire, Voigt returned to the role of Isolde in Tristan und Isolde, Richard Wagner’s opera about two lovers. See an excerpt of Deborah Voigt singing “Liebestod” (Love Death) after Tristan’s death and shortly before Isolde takes her own life in order to join him in eternity. Encores! Great Performances at the Met, airs in December 2014 on PBS stations (check local listings).
