Alexander Hamilton was shot and killed in a duel with Aaron Burr in 1804. From monuments and historic sites, to our currency and banking system, Hamilton’s legacy lives on many forms. Thanks to Lin-Manuel Miranda’s hit musical, Hamilton, this founding father has once again taken center stage.

The morning of July 11, 1804, Alexander Hamilton was shot in a duel with Aaron Burr, he died at home the next day.

Hamilton immigrated to the United States and was instrumental in ending the revolutionary war.

He helped establish the new nation by contributing to and interpreting the Constitution.

He helped build the foundation of the modern economy.

From monuments and historic sites to our currency and banking system, Hamilton’s legacy lives on in many forms.

On January 20, 2015, fresh light shined on Alexander Hamilton and he once again took center stage, when Lin-Manuel Miranda and cast told his story in the musical HAMILTON.
