Alicia Keys on Creating Great Art in Dark Times

SHARE

Alicia Keys and Chad Smith of The Red Hot Chili Peppers explore the idea that great art can come from dark times. Landmarks Live in Concert rebroadcasts on Friday, June 23 at 10PM (check local listings) with Grammy Award-winning artist, Alicia Keys. A native New Yorker, Keys performs in notable NYC locations, including the world famous Circle Line harbor tour and Harlem’s Apollo Theater.

TRANSCRIPT

CHAD SMITH: You're in tune with yourself.

But now it's reflecting the times we're going through.

But I think really great art comes from dark times.

ALICIA KEYS: You're so right.

And I think that some of the best art is gonna keep coming.

ALICIA KEYS (singing): Oh... maybe we should love somebody.

Oh.... maybe we could care a little more.

So...maybe we should love somebody.

Instead of polishing the bombs of holy war.

What if sex was holy?
