The Western series “Daniel Boone” was one of the few TV shows that cast minorities in key roles. The decision by actor Fess Parker (1924-2010) and his producers to confront racial barriers just as our nation wrestled with the civil rights movement of the 1960s and 70s was revolutionary. Rosey Grier became a regular cast member on “Daniel Boone” in 1969.
