Much of the East Coast is still grappling with the devastation of Hurricane Sandy. The storm affected at least 17 states, caused massive flooding, and left millions without power. Religious leaders, including Pope Benedict XVI, prayed for the victims and for a strong recovery, and many faith–based groups quickly rallied to help those impacted by the storm.

Sandy also had an impact on the presidential campaigns. President Obama took time off to tour some of the devastated areas of New Jersey with Governor Chris Christie. He promised that his administration would not forget the people suffering there. Meanwhile, Governor Mitt Romney held a relief rally in the battleground state of Ohio for victims of Sandy. He urged Americans outside the affected areas to help out in any way they can. In these final days before the election, both candidates are ramping up efforts to mobilize voters, including their faith-based supporters.
