Supreme Court to Rule on Gay Marriage

samesex-marriageAmid more debates on Capitol Hill over the so-called fiscal cliff, religious groups continued pushing Congress to reach a fair deal. Several faith groups were also watching closely as the Supreme Court announced it would take up two important cases dealing with same-sex marriage. One is the Defense of Marriage Act—DOMA, passed by Congress in 1996. The other is the famous Proposition 8 in California, which would have forbidden same-sex marriage in that state.
