A landmark vote in heavily Catholic Rhode Island this week put the state on track to allowing same-sex marriage. The bill approved by the Senate is expected to clear a procedural vote in the House next week and be signed into law. Rhode Island will be the 10th state to permit gay and lesbian couples to marry.
