There was widespread condemnation this week of the massive escalation of violence in Egypt, where military forces cracked down on supporters of ousted President Mohammed Morsi. More than 600 people were killed, and several thousand were injured. The largest Muslim advocacy group in the United States, the Council on American Islamic Relations, urged President Obama to cut off military aid to Egypt.
