A Sikh professor at Columbia University who was beaten up last week says it’s more important that the perpetrators are “taught rather than caught.” A group of teens assaulted Dr. Prabhjot Singh, calling him “Osama” and “terrorist.” The interfaith community has urged the FBI to investigate it as a hate crime. The attack comes on the heels of a new report which found that 70 percent of Americans labeled people who wear turbans as Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, or Shinto. In fact, nearly all turban wearers in the U.S. are Sikhs.
