A surprising Oscar nomination has been rescinded for a song used in a little-known Christian film. The song “Alone Yet Not Alone,” which comes from a film of the same name, had been nominated for Best Original Song. However, the Academy’s board of governors said the composer had improperly used his influence to promote the song, thus disqualifying it from consideration. The song was performed by evangelical author and singer Joni Eareckson Tada, a quadriplegic with just 50 percent lung capacity.
