Prominent US evangelical leaders spoke out against a new Uganda law that criminalizes homosexuality. The measure, signed into law last week, calls for up to life in prison for those convicted of having gay sex. Megachurch pastor Rick Warren and leaders of the Southern Baptist Convention were among those denouncing the law as unjust, although they reaffirmed their belief that homosexuality is a sin. Critics have accused some evangelicals of helping to pass the Uganda law.
