The US Supreme Court has declined to get involved in a closely watched case about whether a photographer in New Mexico could refuse to photograph a same-sex commitment ceremony. A lower court had ruled that denying such a service, even because of religious beliefs, violated the state’s human rights act. That decision now stands. Several cases around the country also involve whether business owners with religious objections can refuse work at gay weddings.
