Author, poet, and civil rights icon Maya Angelou died this week. She was 86. Angelou’s best-known work is I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, her memoir about growing up in the Jim Crow South. She also often wrote about faith. Her final tweet, written four days before her death, said, “Listen to yourself and in that quietude you might hear the voice of God.”
