Imprisoned Sudanese Christian Woman Released, Greeted at Vatican

meriam-HEAD-smMeriam Ibrahim, the Sudanese woman who was sentenced to death for refusing to renounce her Christian faith was finally able to leave Sudan this week. She arrived in Rome with her family. An international outcry had led to Ibrahim’s release from prison, where she had given birth to a baby girl while in shackles. The family was greeted at the Vatican by Pope Francis, who thanked Ibrahim for her witness of faith.
