Amid ongoing tensions in Ferguson, Missouri, faith leaders continued to pray for peace and call for justice. Local clergy have tried to maintain calm after the fatal shooting of an unarmed African-American teenager, Michael Brown, sparked two weeks of protests and sometimes violent confrontations with police. Interfaith groups have sponsored peaceful marches and prayer vigils in Ferguson urging an expedited grand jury hearing as well as long-term changes in police procedures. Several churches hosted town hall meetings for community members to air their frustrations. Across the nation, many faith groups are holding special services to show their solidarity with Ferguson.
