In the US, as the number of states allowing same-sex marriage continues to grow, a new study says that roughly half of Americans now favor splitting civil marriage from religious marriage. According to Lifeway Research, 49 percent of respondents agreed with the statement that “religious weddings should not be connected to the state’s definition of marriage.”
