Pope Meets UN Secretary-General on Climate Change, Calls Gender Wage Disparity a “Scandal”

At the Vatican, at a conference on environmental issues, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon called fighting climate change “an urgent moral imperative.” He also met privately with Pope Francis, who will release an encyclical on climate change in the next few months. At his weekly audience, Francis addressed the subject of wage inequality between men and women. He said the discrepancy is a “scandal.”
