Nigeria: Hundreds of Boko Haram Captives Freed

boko-haram-nigeria-320

In Nigeria, women and children received treatment at a refugee camp after being rescued from Boko Haram by the Nigerian military. Last week the Nigerian army said it freed 700 people who had been held by the militant group. Many survivors have been sharing testimonies of the horrors they said they saw and experienced while in captivity, including torture and forced marriages. Many of the girls who were rescued were reported to be pregnant. So far, those rescued do not seem to include any of the 200 schoolgirls who received international attention when they were kidnapped last year.
