More than 200 angry protesters gathered outside a Phoenix mosque this past week, hurling insults at Islam and the Prophet Muhammad. The organizers said it was a response to last month’s attack on an anti-Islam event in Texas. While protesters called Islam a “religion of murderers,” counter-demonstrations were also held urging love and mutual respect. Inside the mosque, an interfaith group including Jews, Christians, and Muslims held a rally they called “Love Is Stronger than Hate” in response to the anti-Islam protests.
