South Sudan Faces Desperate Hunger

Humanitarian groups are warning of a massive food crisis in South Sudan as that country plunges deeper into a civil war that has disrupted a crucial planting season. The Red Cross said nearly four million people, more than a third of the country’s population, are facing food shortages approaching famine levels. World Vision president Richard Stearns tweeted this week that he personally witnessed the worst hunger he has ever seen during his trip to South Sudan earlier this month.
