Debates over religious liberty and same-sex marriage continue to heat up. Local officials in several states are seeking to opt out of granting marriage licenses to gay couples, saying the practice violates their religious beliefs. Meanwhile, bakers in Oregon were fined $135,000 for refusing to make a wedding cake for a gay marriage. The group Americans United for Separation of Church and State has pledged to file lawsuits against anyone it believes is wrongly using religion as a cover for discrimination.
