VIDEO: Cultural Excursion to Smithsonian Islamic Art Collection

WASHINGTON, D.C. — During the Washington, D.C. leg of the Senior Journalists Seminar, Kim Lawton and two of her fellow journalists, Chaitali Roy of the Arab Times Kuwait and Ailing Qin of South Reviews Magazine in Guangzhou, China, were given a special tour of the Islamic Art Collection in the Freer Gallery of Art, part of the Smithsonian Institution. It’s considered one of the finest collections of Islamic Art in the world. The tour was led by Simon Rettig, the Freer and Sackler Galleries Curatorial Fellow for the Arts of the Islamic World.
