In Alaska, President Obama continued drawing attention to climate change during his three-day tour of the state. He visited a melting glacier and spoke with Alaskan natives about the impact of climate change on fishing and other industries. He called on world leaders to produce a deal to curb global warming at the U.N. summit in Paris later this year. Meanwhile, on September 1 Pope Francis marked the Catholic Church’s first World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation.
