Today (September 21) the National Catholic Reporter editorialized that while in the United States Pope Francis should speak out against the threat of nuclear weapons. Last week (September 17), former Senator Sam Nunn, Bishop Oscar Cantu, and others met in Washington to discuss “The Pope and the Bomb: New Nuclear Dangers and Moral Dilemmas.” Is the pope pursuing new policies on nuclear disarmament? Will he press the moral case for eliminating nuclear weapons during his US visit?
