UK Cinemas Ban Lord’s Prayer Ad

In Great Britain this week, a big flap over the Lord’s Prayer: The Church of England created a special video ad highlighting the famous biblical prayer of Jesus and urging people to “just pray.” The Church wanted to run the ad in theaters showing the new Star Wars film that opens before Christmas. But the company that handles advertising for major cinema chains in the UK turned it down, saying it would be offensive to some movie-goers. That has set off a vigorous international debate.
