Pope Renews Call for Welcoming Refugees, Reiterates Message of Mercy

Pope-600Amid growing anti-immigrant sentiment in many parts of the world, Pope Francis this week called for “bold and creative” new solutions. In a speech to the Vatican diplomatic corps, he said humanity must not let security fears override respect for the dignity of all people. Also this week, Francis’s first book as pope was simultaneously released in 80 countries. Its title is The Name of God is Mercy. At the Vatican, Oscar-winning actor Roberto Benigni helped promote the book. He said he’s an enthusiastic supporter of the pope.
