On Our Calendar

image007-600The world’s Eastern Orthodox Christians begin observing Great Lent on Monday—Clean Monday (March 14). It’s a time of fasting and prayer leading up to Easter or Pascha. Because they follow a different calendar, Western Christians have already been observing Lent for several weeks. This year, Western Christians celebrate Easter on March 27, but in the Eastern tradition it won’t take place until April 24.
