Catholic Publication in Mexico Questions Pope’s Recent Rebuke

Mexico-600Catholic leaders in Mexico are pushing back against critical comments the pope made against Mexican bishops during his recent visit there. In an unusually harsh speech to the bishops, Francis spoke out against pride, careerism, a lack of transparency, and materialism that he said can lead to corruption. This week, an unsigned editorial in Mexico City’s archdiocesan newspaper argued that the Catholic Church is well-managed there. The editorial suggested that some “bad advice” may have triggered the pope’s comments.
