Faith groups are praising the US State Department for designating ISIS atrocities against religious minorities as genocide. Secretary of State John Kerry this week said he has determined that ISIS—or Daesh, as it’s also known—has specifically perpetrated genocide against Christians, Yazidis, and Shia Muslims. Kerry called for an independent investigation and formal legal determination at the international level. He said the US will do all it can to see that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
