Israel Rescues Jews from War-Torn Yemen

01-Yemen-600This week, Israel revealed a successful covert operation to rescue 19 Jews from war-torn Yemen. The Yemeni Jews received a warm welcome inside Israel. They brought with them a 500-year-old Torah scroll. Jews have lived in predominantly Muslim Yemen for centuries, but many say the civil war there has taken a toll on their community. Israeli officials said about 50 Jews decided to stay in Yemen.
