Faith-Based Humanitarian Relief Agencies at Work in Earthquake-Ravaged Ecuador

05-600Last weekend’s massive earthquake in Ecuador has killed more than 500 people and injured more than 2,500. Pope Francis said his prayers are with the victims of the tragedy. Meanwhile, US faith-based humanitarian relief agencies are on the ground. World Vision, a Christian aid agency, is providing emergency relief items such as mattresses, mosquito nets, and hygiene supplies to thousands in the hardest hit areas. Six nuns, all members of the Servant Sisters of the Home of the Mother, were among those killed in the quake.
