01-600Muslims around the world are observing Ramadan, their month of fasting that began with the sighting of the new moon (June 6). There are special prayers and special foods to eat to break the fast.

Jews are celebrating the festival of Shavuot, honoring God’s gift of the Torah to Moses. Some Jews stay up all night to study the Torah. It’s also a harvest festival. Many mark Shavuot by eating dairy products.
