National Cathedral to Remove Images of Confederate Battle Flags from Stained Glass Windows

Untitled-13Washington National Cathedral announced it will remove Confederate battle flags from two large-stained-glass windows. The windows were installed in 1953 and honor Confederate generals Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee. Cathedral leaders say they will leave the rest of the windows and use them as a catalyst for a series of public events on racism, slavery, and racial reconciliation. The cathedral’s program is scheduled to begin next month.
